A1Z26 turns letters into their positions in the alphabet: A is 1, B is 2, and Z is 26. There is no key to remember. Enter a short message to make a number puzzle, or choose Decode to turn the numbers back into words.

Keep letters and words separate

Put hyphens between the numbers in each word and a slash between words. For example, 112 on its own could mean AAB, AL, or KB. Writing 1-1-2, 1-12, or 11-2 tells the reader which letters you meant.

Check one token at a time

Use whole numbers from 1 to 26 for letters. If a token is 0, 27, or otherwise invalid, the tool points out its position so you can fix it. Keep the slash between words rather than treating it as another letter.

A1Z26 represents letters, so punctuation and other characters may be removed. Check the prepared input before sharing a clue. A digit in your original message is not treated as an encoded letter.
